This Story Sounds Familiar

Even though I loved this book there were some elements of it that sounded kind of familiar: a princess in exile, a devious ruler with ulterior motives, a ruffian boy that is just so charming. Now where have I heard all this before? *Cough - Aladdin - cough* Hmm... I'm sure it'll come to me. :-)

Synopsis:

In Meridian #1 we learned Sephie's background and how she came to acquire the powerful sigil. Sephie's adventures in this issue take place in Cadador, the city ruled by her uncle Ilahn. Here he effectively keeps her prisoner while feeding her lies about being a ruler in exile and having to learn leadership skills. But she is too smart of a girl for that so she sneaks out and wanders the city - learning what it is really like. Meanwhile, back on Meridian, Sephie's friend Jad is desperate to escape the soldiers of Cadador, and while racing around on the rooftops he is helped by members of the local rebellion who show him a special and secret passageway!

My 2 Cents:

• The art is amazing! Beautifully drawn, inked and colored... awesome costumes... great scenes... excellent layout! If there was nothing else the art alone would totally make this book worth buying!
• Sephie is starting to look like more than just another pretty, young girl. She actually asks some deep questions and ponders on some important issues - which is cool.
• Did I mention the art is awesome? Oh, yeah - so let me just say that the entire book is a fun read! The recap page (an idea I love!), the letters and the Milestones were all very entertaining - making me feel that this book was worth every cent!
