Dracula Sucks!

Ha-ha - see what I did there? But really, I have never been a fan of the vampire. Bram Stoker's original book was ok, but that is about the only vampire / Dracula story I have ever liked - the rest have been disappointing. I was hoping that his appearance in this comic would be more to my liking (I don't know why) but, alas, it was not. So suck it Dracula!

Synopsis:

"...Like A Bat Out Of Heaven!" : At the end of issue #332 Dracula sank his fangs into Sif's neck - and this issue begins as the goddess awakens to find her memory gone, but her passion for the vampire very much alive! As the 2 of them go out for a night on the town, Thor is in New York at the house of Dr. Strange - who is helping Thor locate the lost Runestaff of Kamo Tharnn. To do so the strange doctor peers into the mind of Sif (who is hundreds of miles away, mind you!) and while there discovers that she has been bitten by Dracula. When Thor learns of this he rushes off to Chicago to rescue the eternal love of his life. Thor catches up with the romantic couple at the opera, and there calls out the prince of darkness. The 2 of them hash it out in the theater, and then take it outside as they battle in the inclement weather. Thor is able to gain the upper hand and uses his power over lightning to zap the blood-sucker who is then rescued by his devoted followers. Sif is magically released from Dracula's hold over her and she rushes into the arms of her one and only true love: Thor. The 2 of them then fly off to find the Runestaff together, aw... isn't that romantic!

My 2 Cents:

  • There was some corny dialogue in this issue, especially between Dr. Strange and Thor - who were so nice to each other it was sickening!
  • The art, too, was down a notch from last issue. While not "terrible" it wasn't all that good either.
  • I was kind of disappointed with the whole vampire story. It could have been really cool, especially with Sif being a vampire, but instead it was a lame date and big, action filled battle. Again, not terrible but I was hoping for more.
  • On the plus side: Sif was as lovely as ever! :-)

How I Rate This Issue:

  • Story: 3 stars
  • Art: 3 stars
  • Fun Factor: 3 stars
