Our writing group held a St. Patrick's Day Limerick Contest on March 17, 2007. For this round we were supposed to come up with a few limericks - they didn't have to be themed around St. Patrick's Day or anything like that - the point was just to try our hand at writing these fun poems. With that in mind I wrote mine about family members and our yearly NCAA pool.
Three Limericks
by Rusty Keele
There once was a little old lady,
Whose family called her Matey,
We tried to give her a scare,
She just laughed and said "I don't care,"
So she'll probably live past eighty!
There once was a boy named Rylee,
He was usually cute and all smiley,
Unless he got angry,
Then turned all mangy,
And was totally mean to Kaylee!
They asked if I liked March Madness,
It usually inspired such sadness,
For I always would win,
And gloat with a grin,
And cause in them much madness!
